Things to do on the Lake
|
-
At 27,500 acres of
lake, river, swamp and sloughs, you could spend a lifetime here and
not see everything! (we're still learning after our combined 60+
years her) Caddo has 250+ species of birds, over 70 species of
fish, +amphibians and reptiles, galore.
-
We are just a mile
or so from the 7400 acre Caddo Lake Wildlife Management Acre (WMA)
where deer, ducks and squirrels abound.
-
The Caddo Lake
national Wildlife Refuge(8500 acre) is located in Karnack about 20
minutes southwest of us. Currently under development, it will
offer Equestrian trails, Mountain biking and hiking trails as well
as birding and seasonal hunting opportunities.
-
Most of Caddo Lake
is a Ramsar site of international importance. This designation
means Caddo is a critically important ecosystem for aquatic life and
migratory birds. How critically important you might ask?
We are one of only 20 sites in the United States to be so
designated!!!
