Things to do on the Lake

  • At 27,500 acres of lake, river, swamp and sloughs, you could spend a lifetime here and not see everything! (we're still learning after our combined 60+ years her)  Caddo has 250+ species of birds, over 70 species of fish, +amphibians and reptiles, galore.

  • We are just a mile or so from the 7400 acre Caddo Lake Wildlife Management Acre (WMA) where deer, ducks and squirrels abound.

  • The Caddo Lake national Wildlife Refuge(8500 acre) is located in Karnack about 20 minutes southwest of us.  Currently under development, it will offer Equestrian trails, Mountain biking and hiking trails as well as birding and seasonal hunting opportunities.

  • Most of Caddo Lake is a Ramsar site of international importance.  This designation means Caddo is a critically important ecosystem for aquatic life and migratory birds.  How critically important you might ask?  We are one of only 20 sites in the United States to be so designated!!!

Things to do.. Not on the Lake

  • Jefferson Texas is 12 miles west of us.  An old steamboat port, they are now an antiquers dream.  Lots of old shops, stores and restaurants.

  • Vivian Louisiana is about the same distance east of us.  Vivian is a small town that has several stores including a WalMart for your necessities.

  • Shreveport/Bossier City Louisiana is about 35 minutes southeast of us.  Major metropolitan area with riverboat gaming, upscale restaurants, factory outlets, malls...etc.  Bossier City has a Riverwalk area on the Red River.   Attractions there include Bass Pro Shops, Joe's Crab Shack, and Hooters along with movie theaters, specialty shops, coffee houses and nightly entertainment venues.

  • Linden, Texas is hometown of singer Don Henley of the rock group the Eagles.  Linden comes alive on Saturday nights at a place called "Music City Texas".
